Alphonse Mucha was a Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist, who lived during the Art Nouveau period in Paris. His stylized theatrical posters, particularly those of Sarah Bernhardt, are recognized as some of his best works. Moreover, Mucha is credited with helping establish the fundamental principles of the Art Nouveau movement. He would often decorate panels or fireplaces with beautiful ornamental scenes.
